Naser Mestarihi (born 14 October 1987) is a Qatari born Jordanian-Pakistani singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (guitars, bass & vocals) who is based out of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Naser is the first rock musician to ever officially release a rock album out of Qatar, the Naser Mestarihi EP. He released his second album the critically acclaimed "1987" on 17 June 2013. Naser released of his third album “Praed Street", a collaboration with globally acclaimed drumming giant Cobus Potgeiter, in March 2016. He began recording his debut studio album in December 2009. The self-titled Naser Mestarihi EP was eventually released on 31 December 2010, making it the first official rock record ever to be released out of Qatar. Although the album was not a commercial success, it received critical acclaim from magazines including Rolling Stone Middle East who hailed it as "A huge sounding impressive debut" and Sur la Terre magazine who gave it 4/5 pearls. The EP was released on iTunes and several other online stores. Naser composes all his music and lyrics (including drums) and is known for his meticulous recording approach, laying down every instrument's track on his record with the exception of the drums. He also co-produces all his albums and handles all the musical arrangements.
Naser released his second album 1987 on 17 June 2013 worldwide and shortly afterwards at all Virgin Megastores in Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The album's first single "Exodus Highway" received a positive review in the May 2013 issue of Rolling Stone magazine prior to the album's release. The album itself also received a positive review from Rolling Stone magazine. He launched the album in Dubai at The Music Room with the support of fellow rockers Nikotin and Kicksound. "1987" resulted in him gaining reasonable exposure in the Middle East and Europe being featured in major publications, television and radio.
In 2015, following a two year hiatus from live performances, the band returned to the stage for their comeback show at the one year anniversary Musicians United event in Dubai to a very warm response. The band then took a break, while Naser focused on the final recording sessions and the mixing and mastering process of his upcoming album "Praed Street."
The album was mixed by the Hertz Wieslawski brothers (famed for producing bands including Behemoth, Decapitated and Vader) in Biyalstok, Poland. "Praed Street" is Naser's first collaborative effort featuring drumming sensation Cobus Potgeiter who co-wrote and performed on the album with Naser.
The album ranked as the "9th best selling record by a UAE act” for the 2015/2016 by The National (UAE) newspaper received a very positive reception in the his hometown’s press with the Gulf Times describing the album as “Complex riffs that warrant elaborate five-finger crawls across the fret board are clearly a signature trait of Mestarihi’s music."
Naser and the band kicked off the 2016 season with several well received shows in the UAE. The band is currently gearing up to return to the stage with more live shows in support of the album and the releasing more singles off the new record.
